From  2003 to 2010, I held the position of Campus Dean of Miami Hamilton, and professor of political science (with a joint appointment in criminal justice) at Miami University from 2003 to present.

From  2003 to 2010, I held the position of Campus Dean of Miami Hamilton, and professor of political science (with a joint appointment in criminal justice) at Miami University from 2003 to present.  I am also visiting professor of law at Sun Yat-sen University School of Law in Guangzhou, China

 

Teaching & Research

I was previously on the faculty of the Department of Criminal  Justice and Legal Studies at University of Central Florida, and was chair and associate professor of the Department of Criminal Justice at The University of Toledo.

 

I have also taught as an adjunct instructor at several universities, including the College of Micronesia, Barry University School of Law, University of Evansville, and Lockyear College. 

 

My research areas include United States constitutional law, criminal law and procedure, administrative law, and comparative law.  I have been the recipient of numerous teaching and advising awards and the author or coauthor of sixteen textbooks and their revisions, and a dozen academic articles on public law subjects.  See my CV for detailed information.

 

Professional Law Experience

Before joining the academy full-time, I was assistant attorney general of the Federated States of Micronesia, practiced law in Kansas, was judicial law clerk to Hon. Gene Brooks, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, and a bailiff to Hon. William Miller, Judge, Vanderburgh Circuit Court (Indiana).  As an intern, I also worked for U.S. Congressman Frank McCloskey (Indiana) and Robert Katzmann, J.D., Ph.D. at the Brookings Institution.
